I kind of enjoy when I dream at night because I’m always walking and talking in my dreams. I don’t think I’ve had even one dream since having ALS about my reality of being paralyzed. That’s a God thing.
One night I dreamed I was making tomato sandwiches for my family and some unexpected guests. It felt so good to be active and serving others! Another night I was flying to escape a villain and his attempts to corner me. I don’t dream often, so getting to fly was quite a treat.
Good dreams may help us to temporarily escape our present bad circumstances, but they aren’t real. In fact some are so far-fetched and outlandish we just have to laugh. However, I have a dream that will be a REALITY much more so than even Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech of equality for all.
My dream begins with my Savior’s death on the cross. It is based in the most well-known and beautiful text in the Bible, John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
His death brought full and complete victory, eradicating ALL sin and death! That means that on the cross He won the victory over all past, present and future wars, tragedies, natural disasters, traumas, abuse, emotional scars… EVERYTHING we hear about in the news and face in our sin-sick world today! He already won the victory then over ALS and other terrible diseases!
Although He longs to do so, He can’t fully cash-in on that victory until His second coming, but it is there, like a check waiting to be cashed to cover a debt. What a blessed reality to know the debt has already been paid! Satan has no power to continue his destroying work indefinitely!! Praise the Lord!
The fulfillment of my dream is promised in Revelation 21:4, when Jesus returns and takes us to heaven.

It says, “And God will wipe every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things are past away.”
Yes!! I have a dream that will be fulfilled in heaven one day very soon when all will be restored. Can you imagine it?! My longings for heaven are reflected in this favorite song, “I Wanna go to Heaven.”. There will be total peace, joy, healing and best of all we’ll have an eternity of blissful happiness with Jesus!
Dear reader, I also have a dream to be able to meet you there on that glorious day! Let’s dream together.
