Meet Shelly

Taken October 2019, around diagnosis.

I am a “young” (lol), 60 y.o., nurse and pastor/teacher’s wife, happily married for 36 years. Also mother to four amazing grown children, two girls and two boys. Our two oldest are married to wonderful spouses. And so far are blessed with two beautiful grandchildren. I always had a fairly “easy”, carefree, picture perfect life and have enjoyed good health so a sudden diagnosis of ALS (or Lou Gehrig’s disease) in October of 2019 was a real “shocker” to our family. I’m presently total care, totally paralyzed, with a trach, ventilator and feeding tube. My days are no longer easy, but He is showing me I have A Loving Savior (my new definition of ALS) to walk beside me each step. Join me through my blogs (written one letter at a time with my eyegaze computer) as I vulnerably share the ups and downs of this difficult journey!
